Wet, Soggy Yards can be fixed with a properly installed exterior French Drain

| This house in Edison, New Jersey suffered from a steady stream of underground water seeping from the long grade of the properties up the hill. The backyard stayed wet all year long, and never really dried out, even during the summer time. Following a site visit, it was determined that the water was caused by the long, sloping grade up the hill combined with poor soil conditions. Water would accumulate and puddle throughout the lawn making it virtually un useable for children to play. This type of water problem is best fixed by installing a network of exterior French Drains to the lawn itself. The system is designed to allow water to flow away from the surface of the yard via gravity. Water then moves below the ground where it can safely recharge the aquifer while maintaining dry conditions above. Protective filter fabric is used on wide sheet rolls to protect the drain from sediment, while perforated PVC pipe and crushed stone allow water to freely flow away from the surface of the property.
